Two ways to buy: Fully Serviced or Fully Refurbished
Most refurb dealers sell one product. We sell two — because not every buyer needs the same thing, and every job has a different budget.
Fully Serviced — starts at $13,000
- Tested components — drive, hydraulic, electrical, control system all functionally tested
- New annual ANSI/OSHA inspection — A92.20-2018 / OSHA 29 CFR 1926.453 documented and current
- Optional new parts à la carte — want fresh batteries but not a full repaint? Want new tires but not the rebuilt control box? Spec the unit to your budget. We’ll quote.
The Fully Serviced tier is the path that competes with auction-site used (IronPlanet, GovPlanet, Ritchie Bros). The difference: you can come see the lift in our Addison, IL shop — and we can add new parts at your direction. None of the auction sites can do either.
Fully Refurbished — starts at $16,800
Everything in Fully Serviced, plus:
- New batteries. Fresh 24V flooded lead-acid pack, properly watered and load-tested.
- New tires. Non-marking compound, indoor-grade.
- New charger. Tested through a full charge cycle.
- Rebuilt control box. Joystick, function switches, e-stops on platform and ground — all replaced where needed.
- Hydraulic system inspected every time. Fluid tested and replaced only if outside spec.
- Paint — done to order. Sanded down to bare metal, primed, repainted to factory-fresh, decals + ANSI markings replaced. Major separator vs other refurb dealers.
The Fully Refurbished tier is the premium path — half the cost of new with most of the reliability of new. What we built our reputation on.
What you’re getting
The GS-4047 is Genie’s 40 ft platform with a 46-inch wide deck. This is the lift for big-box construction, large warehouse retrofits, and any job where 32 ft isn’t quite enough. Heavier than the GS-3246, but the reach is worth it when you need it. We stock 2016–2019 model years specifically — the most reliable run of this platform.

When to buy a GS-4047 (vs. just renting one)
If you’ll use a 40 ft lift more than 90 days a year, buying probably wins.
A 40 ft class lift rents for around $275/day at our Chicagoland yard. Run that math against the refurb purchase price — somewhere in the 60–90 day mark, owning starts to crush rental on total cost.
Buying makes sense for:

- Multi-site contractors with steady 40 ft work
- Distribution centers and warehouses that need a lift on standby
Renting still wins for:
- Single short jobs

We stock GS-4047 units from 2016–2019 model years specifically — that’s the sweet spot for parts availability and reliability on this platform. The current Genie production line has moved to the GS-4046 E-Drive, but the legacy GS-4047 is what most fleet operators are running and what we know inside out.
How much does a refurbished GS-4047 weigh?
About 6,871 lb stowed. Floor-load matters for upper-floor work — measure your deck rating before you buy.
What’s the difference between Fully Serviced and Fully Refurbished?
Fully Serviced (starts at $13,000) gets you a tested, inspected lift with the option to spec new parts à la carte. Fully Refurbished (starts at $16,800) gets you new batteries, tires, charger, rebuilt control box, full hydraulic inspection, and a complete repaint — comprehensive, factory-fresh.
What batteries does it use?
A 24V DC battery pack, typically 4× 6V flooded lead-acid in series. Fresh batteries are included on every Fully Refurbished unit and available à la carte on Fully Serviced.
Will it fit through a standard 8 ft door?
Stowed height varies by year. Most commercial roll-up doors clear it; some narrower service doors don’t. Measure your door before you commit — or ask us.
What’s the warranty?
We back our refurbishment work with a service guarantee on the rebuilt components. Specifics depend on the unit and tier. Ask us about the one you’re considering.
Can I see the unit before I buy?
Yes. We send same-day video walk-arounds. If you’re in Chicagoland (or driving in from anywhere), you can come visit our shop in Addison and walk the yard.
How long until you can deliver?
1–2 weeks for ready-to-ship. 3 weeks from the time of payment as a baseline for Fully Refurbished work. Real numbers, not best-case fairy tales.
What’s included in the price?
The lift, all the work in your chosen tier, the inspection certificate, and the operator manual. Freight is quoted separately by zip code.
