Narrow deck vs wide deck at 32 ft

At 38 ft working height, the wide-deck options are usually worth the extra weight:

• Wide deck (GS-3246, SJIII4632) — 46″ platform, 700 lb extended capacity, 5,200+ lb stowed. Standard for any job where you’re loading materials at height.
• Narrow deck (GS-3232, SJ4732) — 32″ platform, 500 lb capacity, slightly heavier than the equivalent wide-deck (the GS-3232 stows at 5,367 lb vs the GS-3246’s 5,218 lb). Choose narrow only if you’ve got tight aisles you need to navigate.

For most contractors and facility teams, wide deck is the default at 32 ft — the working surface matters more at this height because repositioning a 5,000+ lb lift mid-job is a hassle.

What “fully refurbished” means

Same standard on every 32 ft unit:

• New batteries. Fresh 24V flooded lead-acid pack, watered and load-tested.
• New tires. Non-marking, indoor-grade.
• New charger. Tested through a full charge cycle.
• Rebuilt control box. Joystick, switches, e-stops on platform and ground.
• Hydraulic system inspected every time. Fluid tested and replaced only if outside spec.
• Full ANSI/OSHA inspection. Certificate and photos go with the unit.
• Paint — done to order. Sanded down, primed, repainted to factory-fresh, decals replaced.

The Genie GS-3246s we predominantly sell are 5th to 6.5 generation units (2014–2018 model years). Mature platform, parts widely available.

What’s the working height of a 32 ft scissor lift?
38 ft. ANSI working height = platform height + 6 ft.

What’s the difference between a 30 ft and a 32 ft scissor lift?
“30 ft” is usually a colloquial reference to the same 32 ft platform class — there isn’t a standard 30 ft electric slab scissor lift. The four models above are what you’re looking for if you searched for 30 ft.

Why is the GS-3232 heavier than the GS-3246 with the wider deck?
The narrow-deck GS-3232 has a heavier scissor stack to support the same 38 ft reach with a smaller footprint. Counterintuitive, but real.

Can a 32 ft scissor lift fit on an upper-floor deck?
Depends on the deck rating. At ~5,200 lb stowed, you need a deck rated for at least that — most warehouse mezzanines are. Verify before you go up.

Can I rent before I buy?
