The SJIII 4632 — also written SJIII4632 or SJ4632, and carried in newer serial ranges under the SJIII 4732 name — is Skyjack’s 32-foot wide-deck warehouse standard: 46 inches wide, 700-pound platform, built to carry stock and two people all day. We repair, inspect, and refurbish them at our Addison, IL shop. We pick yours up and diagnose it the same day; straightforward fixes go back the next day, and complex problems get an honest timeline first. Call 773-790-7299. This page also covers the wide-deck siblings SJIII 4620/4626 (and their 4720/4726 renames).

No error codes on an SJIII4632 — here’s how it actually works

Like every SJIII, the 4632 is relay-based with no fault-code display. Troubleshooting is symptom-first, straight from the factory manual — the only on-machine codes belong to the Delta-Q charger (below).

Troubleshooting by symptom

Completely dead: charger cord still plugged in (interlocks the machine — the most common call we get), then battery disconnect, terminals, battery charge (hydrometer ~1.275; a 0.050 cell spread = failing battery), fuse F1, breaker CB2, e-stops, key switch. Then it’s relay-and-wire work with a meter.

No drive/steer while elevated: pothole protection bars stuck under the machine — clear debris and inspect the linkage before assuming worse.

Drives slow only / no high torque: the high-speed limit switch circuit thinks it’s still elevated — a real repair, not a setting.

Won’t lift: manual lowering valve left open → oil level → load on deck → up valve coil. In that order. A 700-lb deck loaded past its rating simply refuses politely.

Drifts down / won’t hold on a grade: lift cylinder gland seal or the holding-valve stack; brake issues on integral-brake units get the factory ladder. Shop jobs, documented and quoted first.

Charger codes

Solid red = internal charger fault (F-0-0-1 to F-0-0-6; 30-second disconnect reset, replace if it returns). Flashing amber = external: E-0-0-1 voltage high, E-0-0-2 too low to start, E-0-0-3 time limit, E-0-0-4 won’t trickle, E-0-0-7 amp-hour limit. Recurring E-codes = tired batteries far more often than a bad charger.

Annual inspection, pricing, and the honest math

Annual ANSI/OSHA inspection: $225 in-shop, $350 on-site, same-day certificate pre-scheduled, renewal tracked. Repairs $150/hr plus parts, quoted after same-day diagnosis and approved by you. If the estimate crosses half the machine’s value, we’ll show you a refurbished SJIII4632 — or the current-generation SJ4732 — with a fresh inspection on it.

SJ4632 service FAQ

Is the SJIII4632 the same as the SJIII4732?
Same wide-deck family — newer serial ranges carry the 4726/4732 branding. One factory manual covers both, and we service the whole family, 4620 through 4732.

What batteries does it take?
Four 6-volt flooded batteries (24V pack) — U2200 standard, US 2200/T-105/approved AGM alternates. We install Crown deep-cycle batteries to this spec — a US-built pack that outlasts the cheap imports.

Where are the error codes?
There aren’t any — analog machine. Symptom troubleshooting above, or call with what it’s doing and the serial number.

SJIII4632 or Genie GS-3246?
The two 32-ft wide-deck rivals — we sell and service both: honest side-by-side here.
