Dead pack, won’t hold a charge, or a lift that quits before the shift ends? Battery replacement is the most common scissor lift repair there is — and the one most often done wrong. Battery packs by model

Most electric scissor lifts run a 24-volt pack, but the block count and type vary by model. From the OEM manuals for the machines we service:

Why we install Crown deep-cycle batteries

We fit Crown deep-cycle batteries — a US-built brand we trust to actually last, not the cheapest import a parts counter can source. They match the OEM specs above (voltage, group size, amp-hour rating) so they drop straight into your Genie, Skyjack, or JLG, and they hold up to the daily deep-discharge cycle a working lift puts them through. A quality pack installed correctly, on the right charge profile, is what gets you the full 3–5 years instead of a replacement next season.

Signs your batteries are done

The mistake that kills new batteries: the wrong charge profile

Here’s what a parts-counter battery swap misses. These machines have a smart charger with a stored charge profile — and flooded and AGM batteries need different profiles. Drop AGM batteries in and leave the charger set for flooded (or vice-versa) and you’ll cook an expensive new pack in months. On a Genie, flooded runs profile P001/P003 and AGM runs P043; the GS-4047 uses its own P007. We set the profile to match every pack we install. It’s the difference between batteries that last their full life and batteries you replace again next year.

Battery replacement FAQ

How long do scissor lift batteries last?
A quality deep-cycle pack like the Crown batteries we install typically lasts 3–5 years with proper watering and charging. Chronic deep-discharge, a wrong charge profile, or a failing charger cuts that short.

Can I put AGM batteries in a machine that had flooded?
Yes — but the charger profile must be reprogrammed to match, or the new pack won’t last. We handle that as part of the install.

My lift won’t charge — is it the batteries or the charger?
Read the charger LED: solid red is an internal charger fault; flashing amber is usually a battery or connection problem. We diagnose both so you don’t replace the wrong one.

Do you replace charger and cables too?
Yes — chargers, cables, terminals, and connectors are all stocked or fast-ordered.
